Cannes, France – May 23, 2012 --- Continuing to procure top-tier titles for its international sales slate through the Cannes Market, The Little Film Company today announced that it has acquired worldwide sales rights to the WWII sports drama “The Third Half.” The announcement was made today in Cannes by Robbie Little.
“The Third Half” is based on a true story about the football team ‘Macedonia’ (FC Vardar predecessor), which under the leadership of a Jewish coach (Spitz), manages to become the champion of a fascist controlled National Football League during WWII in 1942. The movie also depicts the life in Macedonia under fascist occupation and sufferings of Macedonia’s Jews at the time.
Award-winning filmmaker Darko Mitrevski (“Bal-Can-Can” “Goodbye, 20th Century”) directed “The Third Half” from a screenplay he wrote with Grgur Strujic. Robert Naskov produced the film under his Kino Oko banner, in co-production with I/O Post from Prague, Czech Republic.
The film stars Richard Sammel (“Inglourious Basterds,” “Casino Royale,” “Taxi”), Sasko Kocev (“Skopje Remixed,” “Strmoglavi”) and actress/model Katarina Ivanovska, as well as Rade Serbedzija (“Batman Begins,” “Snatch,” “Mission: Impossible II"), Emil Ruben (“Bal-Can-Can,” “Kontakt”) and Toni Mihajlovski (“Punk’s Not Dead,” “Cabaret Balkan”).
The filmmakers and cast just arrived in Cannes to support the film.
