USA, UK and Canada Deals in Place
Cannes, France - May 17, 2012 --- The Little Film Company is starting Cannes with a bang, announcing US, UK and Canadian deals for the sci-fi thriller “War of the Dead.”
The Little Film Company sold the film to E1 Entertainment for the US, Momentum Pictures for the UK and Alliance Entertainment for Canada. The announcement is made today by Little Film Company Co-President Robbie Little.
“War of the Dead” was produced by Lithuanian Film Studios and The Little Film Company in association with Double Star Films. Scanbox has the film for all of Scandinavia.
One of World War II’s darkest secrets has escaped in director Marko Makilaakso’s “War of the Dead.” In the frozen artic forests, Captain Martin Stone (Andrew Tiernan) is leading a finely-trained, elite platoon of American and Finnish soldiers as they attack an enemy bunker. Underestimating their enemy’s strength, they are quickly beaten back into the forest. As they try to regroup, they are suddenly attacked by the same soldiers they had just killed a few minutes earlier. Forced to flee deeper into Russian territory, they discover one of war’s most terrifying secrets and realize they have woken up a far more deadlier enemy. Death is no longer the final frontier.
Lithuanian Film Studios has a strategic long-term commitment to co-finance select projects that are produced at its facility. To launch this strategy, the studio partnered with L.A.-based The Little Film Company to finance, produce and distribute “War of the Dead.”
In addition to “War of the Dead,” The Little Film Company is handling international sales for the thriller “Sexy Evil Genius” starring Seth Green and Michelle Trachtenberg; the thriller “Defiant,” starring Toni Collette and Dev Patel; “The Days of Mary” – a re-imagining of Federico Fellini's “Nights of Cabiria,” starring Juliette Lewis; the music themed drama “Northern Soul”; and “Devil’s Peak” – the first film in a new trilogy based on gripping suspense novel about revenge, forgiveness, and the race to catch a trained killer, starring Sean Bean.
The company is also handling sales for select territories on “Dracula 3D” – an official selection of the Cannes Film Festival (Midnight Screening). Written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dario Argento, “Dracula 3D,” stars Thomas Kretschmann, Asia Argento and Rutger Hauer.
Other Little Film Company titles include the romantic comedy “Ameriqua,” starring Bobby Kennedy III, Alec Baldwin, Alessandra Mastronardi and Eva Amurri; the family drama “Little Glory,” starring Cameron Bright, Hannah Murray and Isabella Blake Thomas; the thriller “Beneath the Darkness,” starring Dennis Quaid, Aimee Teegarden, Tony Oller and Stephen Lunsford, directed by Martin Guigui; the acclaimed thriller “The Clinic” starring Andy Whitfield and Freya Stafford; the comedy “Coming and Going” starring Rhys Darby, Sasha Alexander and Fionnula Flanagan; and the critically acclaimed dramedy “Eye of the Storm” starring Geoffrey Rush, Charlotte Rampling and Judy Davis.
