The Little Film Company pre-sells Dennis Quaid film, BENEATH THE DARKNESS in Latin America

Cannes (May 13, 2011) – Clay Epstein, VP of Sales & Acquisitions at The Little Film Company announced today that the Dennis Quaid thriller BENEATH THE DARKNESS has pre-sold to California Films in Latin America. The deal was brokered by Epstein on behalf of The Little Film Company and Balan Melarkode for California Films.

California Films have bought the film for all Latin America films and for all rights. Quaid leads the cast as a mysterious mortician and friendly neighbor in a small Texas town where a group of teens (led by Tony Oller and Aimee Teegarden) fight to expose the dark, grim secrets of Ely's (Dennis Quaid) old house. In the same vein as the highly successful "Disturbia" this thriller features a hot new cast and veteran actor Quaid in a surprising new role for him.

Martin Guigui directs and Ronnie Clemmer ("A League of Their Own") is producing from a screenplay by Bruce Wilkinson, who exec produces with Scott Mednick ("Where the Wild Things Are").

We are very selective with the films that we are acquiring right now and after reading the script and knowing the cast, we couldn’t wait to get onboard.  We’re convinced of the commercial value and look forward to releasing the film, said Balan Melarkoda of California Films.

We’re so pleased to be working with California Films, they believe in the film and the wide demographic it is going to appeal to.  Just wait until everyone sees Quaid in this role, his performance is going to make a huge impact on the thriller genre, included Clay Epstein Vice President of Sales and Acquisitions for The Little Film Company.

The film is currently in post-production and The Little Film Company will continue to pre-sell during the Cannes Market and will be showing a First-Look promo.
